A Horse Of A Lifetime

035_wcr-chris_10-1-2015Buddy is a veteran therapy horse at We Can Ride. In fact, he just won the Region 6 Horse of the Year for PATH Int’l. That means he is the #1 therapy horse out of 4 states and 2 provinces! Buddy has been serving riders at We Can Ride for more than seven years.  He retired from his life as a hunter/jumper show horse to help people with disabilities and special needs.  Buddy is a 29-year-old Appaloosa/Thoroughbred/Paint horse who would still love to go out and jump a course almost as much as he loves to work with a rider in a session.  Buddy is really in a class of his own.

051_wcr-chris_10-1-2015He has helped so many riders through his patience and giving heart. It is obvious to everyone that he loves his job and has helped numerous riders with various disabilities including physical, cognitive and emotional. He taught them how to ride, but most of all taught them confidence and how a horse can be a friend. He is a volunteer favorite and always puts a smile on every one’s face as they walk through the barn. We all know we can count on Buddy to listen to take care of his riders.

We’ll be honoring Buddy with a retirement ceremony at the end of the WCR demonstration during the Grand Prix. He will be re-joining his previous owner and living out his retirement with lots of love and green grass.

Thank you, Buddy, for being our friend and giving of your heart.
